Old Traditions Meet New Trends
2012 Bridal Gown Trends | By Ronda M. Parag
Searching for the perfect wedding dress is the best part of the wedding planning process according to some brides, and sets the entire stage for the theme and décor. Each bride-to-be should select a gown that represents her individual taste and personality, and makes her feel fabulous.
The trend for spring includes strapless gowns in taffeta and gazaar with asymmetrically draped bodices in soft hues of white, ivory and blush. Contemporary styles include clean, simple details in updated mermaid and A-line silhouettes and sweetheart, strapless and asymmetrical necklines. Don't be afraid of the new trends with updates on color and details. From crystal embellishments to lace overlays, color is the trend with subtle shades of champagne, platinum tones and prints. Gowns this season feature cascading ruffles and hi-low hemlines. The corset-style bodice is sexy and reflects a nod to the past and is popular this season among designers.
The texture of the gown is an important consideration too. From smooth silk to lacy ruffles, and crystal or pearl beading to even feathers, the gown should reflect all the dreams of the bride-to-be and truly make a bold statement.
